In March every year, St Brendan's College holds Discovery Day, extending an invitation to Year 6 students to experience the day in the life of a St Brendan's College student, prior to their entry into secondary school the following year. Students of other grades considering enrolling at St Brendan's College the following year are also invited to attend Discovery Day.
We encourage all potential day and boarding students to attend Discovery Day as it offers a significant opportunity for students to mingle and interact, experience a taste of the St Brendan's College campus, students and staff and ease them into the transition from primary to secondary.
Discovery Day encompasses activities in Physical Education, Practical Arts, Science and Manual Arts, and we often hear wonderful feedback from visiting Primary Schools and students of the exciting day the boys have had. Your son will be accompanied by a Year Level Coordinator and Year 11 Students, who will guide him through the day. He is to wear his normal school uniform and needs to bring a school hat and a water bottle. All other requirements will be provided by St Brendan’s College including morning tea and lunch. Please tell him to leave his school bag at home for the day.
Transport for students attending primary schools on the Capricorn Coast will be provided by St Brendan's College. Students will be collected from their schools and returned in time to be picked up or to catch their normal buses. Students may choose to make their own way to the College and we ask that they be at the Chapel & Performing Arts Centre before 9.00am, however please advise your school of your intention to do this.
Parents are invited to attend from 9am until 10.30am for a welcome, introduction and tour of the academic facilities. Prospective boarding parents are invited for a further tour to see the extensive boarding facilities at the conclusion of Discovery Day at 2.30pm, so your son can also tour the boarding facilities after the Discovery Day program has concluded.
