Indigenous Dance Groups

St Brendan’s are very fortunate to be culturally immersed with the traditional owners of Australia, the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders, and to have four dance groups that perform on a regular basis.

  • We have the MURRI BUNJI dance group; Aboriginal boys in the Central Queensland area.
  • We have the CAPE YORK boys which live in Northern Queensland.
  • We have the EASTERN & WESTERN ISLANDERS from the Torres Strait Islands.

Each group display and perform their own traditional dances from the various areas they live.

The Indigenous Dance Groups perform at many primary and secondary schools, companies and events all around the Central Queensland area.  The Groups are very busy during third term particularly, as many organisations ask for the students' involvement in celebrations for NAIDOC.

The College is proud to support our Indigenous students with the opportunity to share their culture with the wider community and believe the students play a very significant and important role in education and awareness across cultures.
