SBC boys doin' Springsure Rodeo for Dolly

Amongst the sea of blue in Springsure this Saturday 10 February for the ‘Doin it for Dolly’ Charity Rodeo will be a unified team of young men from St Brendan’s College, Yeppoon ready to ride and committed to supporting the anti-bullying message.

Hailing from all parts of Queensland from Normanton and Collinsville in the north, Augathella and Condamine in the south west to Moura, Baralaba, Springsure and Yeppoon, the boys are travelling to the Rodeo as part of the St Brendan’s College Rodeo Team and are well-placed to spread the message for Dolly far and wide.

Principal of St Brendan’s College Mr Robert Corboy said he was extremely proud of the St Brendan’s College boarding and day students who had put their hand up to be involved in the ‘Doin’ it for Dolly’ Rodeo in Springsure.

“I have spoken to these students this week and they are fully aware of the enormity of the issue and the reason they are riding in Springsure,” Mr Corboy said.

“Bullying is an enormous issue in our society and we work very hard to put in place the measures and framework to support students within our school who feel they are being bullied and to address instigators of bullying within our College,” he said.

“We strongly support the National Day of Action Against Bullying, consistently address anti-bullying in our Year Level Retreats and pastoral care program and seek out presenters to speak to students about social media issues, their digital footprint, online bullying and privacy,” Mr Corboy said.

“We are extremely aware that social media use and the online activities of our students is one of the biggest issues for families and our College, so we will soon be rolling out an optional product in partnership with Family Zone to support families at home to monitor and be aware of their child’s mobile activity.”

“I commend our St Brendan’s College Rodeo Team for their support of the ‘Doin it for Dolly’ Charity Rodeo and assure our families that while we are not perfect; the anti-bullying message and practice is a key priority at our College.”
