Duhig House Returns to the Top: Cross Country Champions for 2024

Sport Friday, 02 May 2025

St Brendan’s College was once again filled with energy and House pride for our annual Interhouse Cross Country Carnival held on Thursday 24 April 2025 — and in an impressive return to form, Duhig House has reclaimed the championship title for the first time since 2019.

While Duhig has long dominated in the pool — winning the swimming carnival for an incredible 11 years in a row — it seems their swimmers have turned into runners, bringing home a well-earned cross country victory after a five-year break.

This year saw a record number of participants, and for the first time, the College issued colour-coded wristbands to competitors to support event coordination and safety. This initiative was introduced in response to our growing student population and ensured a smooth and efficient flow of races throughout the afternoon.

🕐 Race Schedule:

  • 1:05pm – Senior runners (4 km) – Red

  • 1:10pm – U/16 runners (4 km) – Pink

  • 1:25pm – U/15 runners (4 km) – Green

  • 1:30pm – U/12 runners (3 km) – Blue

  • 1:35pm – U/13 runners (3 km) – Yellow

  • 1:40pm – U/14 runners (4 km) – Orange

  • 1:45pm – Participation events commenced in year-level order

While Duhig celebrated the overall House victory, the day was ultimately a celebration of community, participation, and spirit. The College extends its congratulations to all students who took part and thanks the staff and volunteers who helped deliver a well-organised and successful event.
