The rodeo arena at St Brendan’s College was alive with action over the weekend as a huge crowd witnessed one of the toughest sports on dirt.
While belt buckles and cowboy hats might seem out of place at the beach, St Brendan’s College was the place to be on Saturday night, with over 2000 people pouring through the gates to watch the different events on show.
In his first year as Principal, Mr Robert Corboy, hailed the rodeo a great success.
“I am overwhelmed by the SBC family and community spirit, with more than 150 staff, students, parents and friends of the College pulling together to stage a really spectacular event for the Capricorn Coast community and visitors to Yeppoon,” Mr Corboy said.
“I would like to thank each and every one of our SBC family for their efforts leading up to and on Saturday night, and look forward to the College community seeing the benefits of this as the largest P&F fundraiser for the College,” he said.
“The College has a proud history of educating sons from throughout rural Queensland, so it is very special for many of our rural students to showcase their skills and bring a little bit of their ‘life on the land’ to the College,” he said.
“There was plenty of thrills and spills; with the Trans-Tasman Challenge and the inaugural novelty steer ride between the SBC Old Boys, SBC Staff and members of the Capricorn Coast Rugby Union Club, the Crocs, just two of the entertaining events on the program.”
