A GLIMPSE OF THE FUTURE - DISCOVERY DAY

Thursday 11 March sprang to life with 130 potential St Brendan’s College students obtaining a glimpse into their future.  Annually the College hosts Discovery Day to experience a ‘day in the life’ of a St Brendan’s student with parents attending later to tour the facilities.

Rookies, as they are referred to on the day, are mentored by current year 11 students and follow a typical day experiencing Manual Arts by making a key tag, Science where awesome experiments were conducted, Robotics the super fun side of STEM and a run at sporting life.

The future beams bright at St Brendan’s with a state of the art $5M STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics) Hub breaking ground later in the year.

In alignment with the College Strategic Plan 2020-2024 curriculum objectives, partnering with industry leaders in key STEM technologies alongside universities will continue to be a priority focus for the College. This will ensure future graduates are career-ready with strong multi-dimensional skill sets to maximise adaptability in an ever-changing global workforce.

We caught up with Archie Gleeson from Sacred Heart Primary School doing a few science experiments, he said he is having a great day, it has been really fun. He thinks it is a good idea coming to see everything before you start, and he thinks St Brendan’s is going to be a good school but he is not looking forward to the homework every day! Archie has his eye on becoming an NRL player, so he will get the best of everything with STEM and Sport.

If you have missed Discovery Day but are still interested in enrolment, please contact Enrolment Officer Kylie Hedges on 07 4939 9485. There are limited places available for 2022 and the closing date is 11 May, 2021.
