2027 Student Commencement Information

Welcome to St Brendan's College. This page has been designed to guide new families through the onboarding process, providing all the essential information, forms, key dates, and next steps to help you and your son prepare for the start of his journey with us.

Throughout your time at St Brendan's College, the Quick Links section of the College website will be your central source of information for current families. Here you will find quick access to commonly used resources, important updates, forms, school services and parent information. When accessing the website on a computer, the Quick Links can be found in the navigation menu at the top of the page. When viewing the website on a mobile device, they can be accessed via the hamburger menu. We encourage families to familiarise themselves with this area, as it contains many of the tools and resources you will use throughout your son's journey at the College.

All Students (Day and Boarders)

The below section applies to all students. Whether your son is a boarder or day student, this section contains the essential tasks that need to be completed before the start of the school year, including uniforms, stationery, laptop preparation, Parent Lounge updates, medical information, and transport arrangements (day students only).

Students who are newly enrolled, entering Year 7, or commencing Year 10 will be issued with a College laptop. To ensure your son is ready for the start of the school year, families must complete the following two-step process:

  1. Read the Laptop Prospectus - Parents and students are asked to carefully read the Laptop Prospectus and become familiar with the College's expectations for device use, care, responsibilities, and acceptable use requirements.  This resource can be referenced at any time on our website here stbrendans.qld.edu.au/student-life/laptops.
  2. Complete the Online Consent Form - The online consent form must be completed by a parent/carer before a laptop can be issued.

Important: Students will not be able to collect their laptop until the online consent form has been submitted.

When to collect?
Laptop collection takes place through the College Library prior to the commencement of the school year.

Collection Times:
Wednesday 20th January: 2pm – 6:00pm
Thursday 21st January : 8:30am – 6:00pm

Parent Lounge is the College's primary parent portal and should be accessed regularly throughout your son's enrolment. New families will receive their Parent Lounge login details via email and are encouraged to log in as soon as these details are received.

Before the commencement of the school year, please:

  • Log in to Parent Lounge and ensure you can successfully access your account.
  • Review and update your family's contact information, including addresses, phone numbers, and emergency contacts.
  • Check that any medical conditions, allergies, medications, and relevant Medical Action Plans are recorded and up to date.
  • Review and update your son's media permissions.
  • Familiarise yourself with Parent Lounge, which is used throughout the year for absences, fee information, event payments, sporting registrations, parent-teacher bookings, academic reports and subject information.
  • Download the St Brendan's College App and become familiar with its features. The App includes a convenient Parent Lounge tile for quick access to your account.

Important: If you forget your password, please use the "I Forgot My Password" option on the Parent Lounge login page. Passwords can only be reset by the owner of the email address linked to the Parent Lounge account. The College cannot reset passwords on your behalf but can assist if you experience difficulties with the self-service password reset process.

Please note: Some information can be updated directly within Parent Lounge, while other changes may need to be submitted to the College Enrolments Officer.

Media Permissions

Media permissions are managed through Parent Lounge and must be reviewed and completed annually for every student.

Media permissions allow the College to celebrate and share student achievements, activities and College life through publications, newsletters, promotional materials, social media, the College website and other communication channels. Maintaining current consent records ensures the College respects each family's preferences regarding the use of student images, videos and information.

New Families: Log in to Parent Lounge upon receiving your account details and complete your son's media permissions.

Returning Families: Media permissions are an annual requirement and must be reviewed and updated each year, even if you do not wish to make any changes.

Ensure your preferences accurately reflect your family's wishes before the commencement of the school year.

Important: Media permissions can only be completed through Parent Lounge and form part of your son's annual student record requirements.

Instrumental Concert Band Program

At St Brendan’s College, we are proud to offer an outstanding Instrumental Concert Band Program for Year 7 students—a unique opportunity to discover the joy of music and develop lifelong skills.

This program is free of charge and takes place during regular school hours as part of your son’s individual timetable. Students receive three dedicated lessons per week and are provided with a school instrument for the entire year.

Participation means selecting this program as an elective subject for the full year. Students will follow a modified rotation of electives compared to their peers, ensuring they have the time and support to thrive musically.

No prior music experience is required—just enthusiasm! Whether your son is a beginner or has played before, he will be guided by experienced tutors and supported in a collaborative, fun environment.

Performance Opportunities

The boys will have many chances to showcase their talents, including College assemblies, ANZAC Day celebrations, nursing home visits, and local council events. These experiences help build confidence and a sense of community pride.

Registration

Once registered, your son will automatically be enrolled. You will only be contacted if there is an issue with his enrollment.

Why join?

  • Build confidence and creativity
  • Learn teamwork through ensemble performance
  • Develop resilience and discipline
  • Enjoy the excitement of concerts and College events

We are looking for passionate students to join us in 2027. This is more than a music program. It is an opportunity to be part of something special.
