Recognising Skills That Matter: SBC Students Awarded Real‑World Ready Digital Badges

Academic Thursday, 12 Mar 2026

On 5th March, students who attained LEED and Learner Attributes awards in 2025 met with Mrs Kristyn Jones, Director of Pathways, to receive their digital badges and begin developing their personal e-portfolios.

As a College, we are extremely proud of the students who attain LEED and Learner Attributes awards. The LEED acronym stands for ‘Living Eddie Every Day’, with ‘Eddie’ being Edmund Rice, the charitable founder of our Edmund Rice Education Australia (EREA) schools. Students who attained LEED awards demonstrated service leadership throughout 2025 by volunteering their time to support others within the College and wider community.

Our Learner Attributes awards recognise students who consistently demonstrate strong habits for learning, including preparation for lessons, cooperation with teachers and peers, engagement and effort in class, and the completion of home learning. Through their consistent application of these attributes, students have promoted a positive learning culture within the school while striving to be their personal best.

As the LEED and Learner Attributes awards are bespoke to St Brendan’s College, digital badges provide credible evidence for people beyond the College of what these awards represent. Issued as verified online credentials, the badges outline the criteria students have met to attain the award. The badges allow students to display evidence of their character, effort, and contribution to the College community in a digital format that can be shared beyond the school.

Our digital badges are issued through the online Credly platform, which is used by organisations and education providers to recognise verified achievements. Through their Credly account, students can accumulate and store their badges in a digital wallet and share them as part of online portfolios, resumes, and for job applications. In this way, the badges provide credible evidence of transferable skills that are increasingly valued by employers, such as reliability, perseverance, self-organisation, and cooperation.

Congratulations to the boys below who attained these awards and thank you for the positive example you set.
