St Brendan's College Foundation Ltd


The Foundation was established in 1989 by College Old Boys John McKenna (Rockhampton, SBC Senior 1960), Ken Dooley (Yeppoon) and Peter McKenna and has raised almost $1 million for the College over nearly 30 years.  A copy of correspondence from 2002 records some of the Foundation’s work from that era.

More recently, the Foundation has focused its fundraising efforts on events:

  • The inaugural Foundation Race Day held at Keppel Park Yeppoon in August 2016.
  • The inaugural Foundation Golf Day held at Capricorn Resort in January 2017.
  • The inaugural Foundation Sportsman’s Dinner held at The Caxton Hotel in Brisbane in June 2017 to coincide with the Confraternity Shield rugby league carnival  with Darren Lockyer as Guest Speaker.
  • The inaugural Foundation AGM Dinner held in Yeppoon in May 2017.
  • The annual Old Boys vs 1st XIII Rugby League Match
  • A series of regional Old Boy Dinners/Functions.

Legal Structure & Governance:

St Brendan’s College Foundation Ltd (ACN 010 999 774) is a not-for-profit company that exists to support the development of St Brendan’s College and its students.  The Foundation is a separate company governed by a board of directors appointed by members, but remains a controlled entity of the College with the College Principal appointed as an ex-officio company director.  The Foundation’s accounts are audited by the College Auditor.

The company is registered with the Australian Securities & Investments Commission (ACN 010 999 774) and the Australian Charities & Not-For-Profits Commission.  The company’s constitution, annual returns and audited financial statements can be found by typing the ABN 31 010 999 774 into the search field at the ACNC website.

Membership of the Foundation is open to any person who is proposed/seconded by an existing member (Rule 11 of the Constitution) and accepted by the Foundation Board of Directors.  The membership fee in 2017 is $100.

Anyone wanting to be admitted as a member (welcoming all SBC community and family) should send an e-mail with contact details to Once the application is accepted by the Foundation Board an invoice will be issued for fees and as a membership record.

Relationship to St Brendan’s College Old Boys Association:

The Foundation and Old Boys Association (coordinated by Br Kevin Smith) are two (2) separate entities, but do work closely together.  Any former student of St Brendan’s College is automatically a member of the Old Boys’ Association, but must apply to become a member of the Foundation.
